uk's independent beer and cider retailer of the year 2023
The Filling Station is a multi award winning Craft Beer taproom and bottle shop set in the heart of St Ives, Cambridgeshire. We are a 40ft converted shipping container that uses state of the art dispense technology to deliver a vast range of incredible Craft Beer from a wide range of UK Breweries. Our machines fill and seal 1 and 2 litre glass beer Growlers, so that you can take away the best fresh Craft Beer and enjoy it at home or in any location that you choose. Once you have finished the beer, rinse the bottle, bring it back and get it refilled. Drink, Rinse and Refill ! A more sustainable beer drinking experience! Offering over 200 different beers, sourced from a mixture of local breweries through to new start-ups, and the more established names of the craft beer world. Our fridge wall is also stocked with a huge selection of cans and bottled beers or maybe just grab one of our refillable Growlers (one or two litres) from our ever changing 10 draught beer line tap wall.
If you're in a hurry or the current climate means we can’t see each other face to face, we even have a drive-thru collection point.
So jump on the website, order in advance and collect your ice cold beers on the way through St Ives.
We pride ourselves in supporting local breweries and bringing you craft beers that you won’t find everywhere else.
There really is nothing better than that fresh draught beer drinking experience, and now the Filling Station allows you recreate that experience, wherever you like!
The Filling Station is a 100% locally owned business.
What's on the tap wall Today
The Growlers
Yes that’s right, GROWLERS! These are basically reusable glass containers, that will keep the beer fresh in your fridge for 30 days. At the Filling Station we have an innovative Growler Filling Station that uses the Pegas Craft Tap system, which allows you to take our beers away and enjoy them when the time is right. You can choose from any of our 10, ever changing draught brews and use this system to fill your Growlers.
Fresh beer technology
We can fill our glass 1 litre and 2 litre Growlers with any of our 10 keg beers using our counter-pressure filling system which ensures that you get the freshest and coldest beers. This system uses the same technology as some microbreweries use to bottle their beer at the brewery. The filler floods the growler with carbon dioxide, creating a pressurised environment free of oxygen.
The beer is then transferred from the keg into the Growler, which slowly displaces the carbon dioxide. The pressure in the growler is kept in balance, so the flagon fills without foaming. Once seal on the Growler is flipped up, the beer remains pressurised and inert in the growler, allowing you to drink it whenever you like.
